Peckham's Pumpkin Patch

Come out to Peckham's Pumpkin Patch and pick your own pumpkins. We will have 5 acres of pumpkins so you'll have lots to choose from as you look for that perfect pumpkin. Don't worry if it is rainy and muddy, we'll have a large assortment of pumpkins near the parking lot for you to choose from. In addition to several kinds of pumpkins, we grow an assortment of decorative gourds, colorful Indian corn, popcorn and broom corn. Corn shocks and straw bales are also available for purchase.

PPP Gourds

The pumpkin patch will be open weekends starting Sept 25 until Halloween. We'll be open Saturday 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday 12 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Peckham's Pumpkin Patch is 8 miles east of Ottawa on K-68 to Vermont Road, then 3 miles south on Vermont. It is 7 miles south of Wellsville on K-33 to K-68, then 1 mile west on K-68 to Vermont Road and then 3 miles south.

The Pumpkin Patch is located next to the corn crib sales building and parking lot. We have several small wagons that you may take with you and walk into the Pumpkin Patch. Or you may ride on the hay wagon. Katie will be glad to take you up and down the full length of the Pumpkin Patch. If it is too wet and muddy, we won't try to drive the hay wagon through the patch. Just in case the patch is to muddy, we always try to have a nice selection of pumpkins stacked next to the corn crib on solid ground.

Solid Ground Pumpkins

One of the attractions at the Pumpkin Patch that visitors have really enjoyed is the big bale hay maze. Kids of all ages have enjoyed playing in the maze or climbing on top of the bales to play. We always have several families each year that play in the hay maze for over an hour.

Kind On Hay

The maze is built with over 100 big round bales of hay. In 2000 there was a stack of bales 3 high that gave climbers a bird's eye view of the Pumpkin Patch. Please note there is a one dollar admission charge for each person who wishes to play in the Maze.

A Maze Made Of Hay

A word of caution to parents. If your child wants to play on top of the bales and is too young to climb up unassisted, please do not let them play unattended. The hay can scratch bare skin. The hay bales are held together by plastic twine. Sometimes a piece of twine may come loose and catch a foot if you're running on the bales, so we ask you not to run on top of the bales.

1998 was the first year for our new sales building. It is an old corn crib that we moved from another part of the farm and rebuilt. We now have 5 or 6 times as much space as we had before. We have used part of that space to expand our lines of fall and Halloween themed merchandise. Check out our new flags and wind sculptures, collectible figures, signs and plaques, and country style decorating accessories at the Gift Shop Page and visit our store during pumpkin season.

One of our favorite parts of operating the Pumpkin Patch is watching little children finding their pumpkins. We have welcomed field trips from elementary schools and day care centers since we first started the Pumpkin Patch. A field trip to the pumpkin patch consists of a hay wagon ride to a special pumpkin patch where can pick a 4-5 lb. pumpkin and an opportunity to play in the hay maze. The cost is three dollars for each child. If you would like to schedule a group call us at 785-878-3793 or by mail at Pleasant Ridge, 4567 Marshall Road, Rantoul, Kansas 66079 or e-mail us at jharry@pleasantridge.com.
