An expanded Memory Lane Christmas Light Display should be moving to a new location at Pleasant Ridge in November of 1999. It has outgrown our driveway and with the opening of the Christmas Tree farm, we want to consolidate everything at one location. We plan to purchase additional displays on our own and hope that we can get corporate sponsors for even more displays. We do have a lot planned for this year and moving the light display is a ways down on our priority list.
Whether we move or not, the lights should be on by Thanksgiving night. They will be on every night until after New years. The lights are all on by 5:30 and will stay on until after 10:00 p.m.
The light display started about 5 years ago with a nativity scene in front of the house. Since then we've been adding figures and lights until every building around the driveway was lit and every part of the yard had a display. There were over sixty individual figures on display this year including one large piece with a 5' swinging bell.
We also started collecting 24" animated dolls and displayed them in a barn window. In 1998 we filled 2 more window displays with choralers, Santa's elves and Pooh characters. |
