19 August 2007:  Returned from the National Christmas Tree Association convention in Maine. A beautiful place to visit, but boy was it expensive. Had great weather, temps in the 80's were a hot day. Understand it was around 100 degrees back home.

10 July 2007:  Replanted the pumpkins. They won't be ready by Sept 29, maybe by mid October if we have a late frost.

1 July 2007:  A record flood rolls through the Marias des Cygnes river valley (and over the pumpkins). It crests at the third highest level ever recorded around here.

30 October 2006:  Had our last school group visit the Pumpkin Patch today. Pumpkin season is officially over. I took down the Halloween lights and started setting up the Christmas lights. Our new displays we bought at the sale Saturday include a group of carollers, a set of figures ice skating, two toy soldiers, and an eight foot tall waving snowman that we'll set by the entrance from Vermont Road. We also purchased a new Nativity scene with as many as fifteen pieces, if I can get them all working in time.

29 October 2006: Finally, two beautiful days together. We had another great day, even better than Saturday. What a nice way to end the season. We were so busy I didn't get to watch even a minute as the Chiefs beat Seattle.

28 October 2006:  What a great day! The weather was perfect, and for the first time since 1993 Juanita and I didn't spend an October Saturday at the Pumpkin Patch. We left Windy and Shane to run the patch and we went to an auction at Great Bend where the Christmas Fantasy Village was selling out. We came back with a truckload of new figures for the Memory Lane Light Display, the kids had a great day selling pumpkins and my Wildcats won!

22 October 2006:  The rain is gone! And wow, are we busy! What happened to the usual Chief''s game lull? Usually we get to watch most of the Chief's game, but not today. We sold almost as many pumpkins as we did on the Farm Tour day!

21 October 2006:  Another rainy day.

15 October 2006:  It rains nearly all day. There were several families that braved the rain and came out to the Pumpkin Patch to get their pumpkins. They had to wade through the mud and the blood and the beer...... oops, thats a line from an old Johnny Cash song about a boy named Sue.

14 October 2006:  We were part of the Franklin Co. Farm Tour. As a result of the Farm Tour, we had our best single day ever at the Pumpkin Patch. We sold over 3300 pounds of pumpkins!

30 September 2006:  The Pumpkin Patch gets off to a "hot start" by hosting the first annual Ol' Mary's Chili Cook-off, a benefit for the Franklin Co. Firefighters Association. As a first time event, it was rather small with 6 teams entered. Everyone who entered was enthused about the competion and looking forward to our second annual Ol' Mary's Chili Cook-off on September 29, 2007.

25 December 2005:  The last night for the Light Display. At 10 pm, Juanita and I drove through the display and then turned off the lights for the last time in 2005.

19 December 2005:  Thanks for  the best Christmas Tree Sales season ever, we are up 12% over last year so far.

30 October 2005:  Pumpkin Fest! Live remote with KOFO radio, pumpkin burgers, pumpkin games and a scavenger hunt.

20 October 2005:  Worked on updating the website.
